QR Codes in New York Stations

Fox Searchlight Pictures is using QR Codes in its poster campaign for the about to be released ‘Notorious’, a biopic of Brooklyn born rapper B.I.G. Two train stations in New York, 125th and Lexington in Harlem and Union Station, have been covered with over a hundred posters between them. Each poster has a QR Code resolving to the Fox Searchlight YouTube page where users can watch the trailer.

  1. I saw these first hand and they are terrible! For anybody looking to incorporate QR codes into their signage in the future, this is NOT the way to do it! First, the codes are located in the bottom right corner so you have to squat just to get down to scan it. Second, there is NO explanation for those who don’t what a QR code is. Third, the code is so small that it can easily go unnoticed by anyone who is not looking for it like I was. These are the kind of campaigns that are going to kill QR codes before they even get off the ground. I guarantee this was a BUST and whoever put this together should be FIRED! BOOOO!
