Google is using both QR Codes and NFC tags on digital billboards at Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane airports. The campaign to promote Google’s Play app store for Android allows consumers to select and interact with content from various digital billboards in the departure lounge. They can then pay to download their selection directly onto their Android smartphone using the free airport Wi-Fi (video below). The technology that lets consumers control the screens from their smartphones is provided by Red Crystal.
This excellent campaign from oOh! Media will certainly wake up the airport book stores with their limited range of entertainment and reading material.
