QR Codes Drive Proximity Marketing Strategies

Market research and consulting firm Smith’s Point Analytics has a new report on Action Oriented Proximity Marketing Technologies & Platforms. Subtitled Blending the Online and Offline Marketing Channel With NFC & Barcodes the report forecasts revenues and users of proximity marketing applications and opportunities and threats are analyzed. The report estimates the number of 2d codes created outside of Japan in 2012 to be 164 Million rising to 590 Million by 2016 (image below) and points out that the increased awareness of standard QR Codes by consumers is a significant growth driver of proximity marketing strategies.
