PayPal QR Code Virtual Stores In The Subway
PayPal is running a pilot in Singapore’s subway stations to enable Singaporean commuters to shop and pay on-the-go with QR Codes (image and video below). The pilot is now live across 15 subway stations island wide with eight merchants participating by offering Valentine’s gifts at special prices including flowers, chocolates, fashion totes, spa massages, iPhone controlled RC cars, entertainment shows and city tours for couples. Singapore’s subway is WiFi enabled and 70% of Singaporean’s have a smartphone so I would expect the pilot to be a success.
