Coinciding with the London Olympics McCann Istanbul has launched a London wide QR Code scavenger hunt for Turkish Airlines. National country flags have been transformed into QR Codes and positioned on digital boards at hundreds of locations, including many bus stops (video below). Game participants scan a QR Code and are automatically checked-in to that flag via the mobile website. The person with the most check-ins will win a two-way ticket to one of Turkish Airlines’ 200 global destinations. The mechanics of the campaign look good but the campaign itself could have been vastly improved with much more active promotion on the social networks and something more tempting and valuable than an airline ticket as a prize.
