Google QR Code from Short URLs

As of yesterday the Google url shortner now has its own website http://goo.gl/

It includes public real-time analytics data and a QR Code feature whereby appending “.qr” after the goo.gl url will generate a QR Code that resolves to the short url. Interestingly Google have chosen to encode at the the highest error correction capability (Level H) producing a larger matrix QR Code.

  1. How many people are going to want their scan numbers public?

Appending .info at the end of the Goo.gl redirect URL allows anyone to access the analytics on the Code.

Allowing Google to acquire data and gain redirect traffic is something people won’t consider when using this, as it’s just “simple and fun.”

    But, for business use?
