Double Trouble QR Code

Large corporations putting QR Codes on product packaging is not new but the QR Code on these HP Deskjet 3070A Printer boxes photographed in a local PC World store by a 2d-code reader show what can go wrong. The box on the right has the QR Code obscured by a security tab but it doesn’t really matter because if you scan the code on the box on the left it resolves to a page with the error message: File name provided does not exist: HPFiles/CQ191B/CQ191B_gb_en.xml

QR Codes on White Vans

Drainage inspection, cleaning and repair company Lobbe have placed a QR Code on each of their 17 vans (image below). The QR Code resolves to a mobile site with more information about their services and a video.

Barclays Bank UK QR Code

2d-code reader “Cherky” sent in this picture of a large QR Code sticker in the window of the Canary Wharf branch of Barclays. It looks like it will be difficult to read with its reversed light and dark, and very little space around the code. It actually decodes to “Happy Christmas from all of us at Barclays” but I would be interested to know which QR Code readers can and can’t interpret the code. Please leave a comment below if it works for you (or not!).

Nichiren Buddhism Explained via QR Codes

A contemporary art billboard outside a Buddhist temple in Hachioji in western Tokyo displays anime style characters with speech bubbles containing QR Codes. Each QR Code resolves to a mobile page explaining the teachings of the 13th century Japanese monk Nichiren.

Seen in Hampshire Marquee Hire QR Code

A reader has sent in this photo of a QR Code on a commercial vehicle they spotted in Hampshire. It belongs to a Hampshire marquee hire company and the QR Code resolves to their website. Judging from the pictures of marquees on their site this is one switched on company, well done Four Seasons Marquees!
