Company Produces Two Million Unique QR Codes Every Day

The world’s seventh largest food group, Danone is to put a unique QR Code on all its dairy products sold in Spain (image below). The QR Codes will connect consumers to the company’s loyalty programme. There are already 2 million registered users of the saving and loyalty programme and by scanning the QR Codes registered users will be able to save up to an additional $50/month. Danone will be producing 60 million unique codes/month or 2 million/day which probably makes this the biggest unique QR Code project in the world so far. Danone say they have invested over $1 million in the project but I suspect that the analysis of the mass of data that the scanning of unique codes will provide will more than compensate for the cost.
